A young driver who hit and killed a mother and her daughter at high speed in Rosario will be charged with double homicide. After this tragic event, the victims' family is in shock. Last Tuesday night, Abril Benítez, the goddaughter of the deceased woman and cousin of the teenager, made statements to the Noticias Argentinas agency to clarify what happened.
Regarding the situation, Benítez mentioned: “We are more than shocked and speechless over what occurred. It makes no sense to drive at double the allowed speed. This could have been avoided.” The goddaughter also added: “He called me screaming, telling me that he had killed his wife and daughter.”
As for the health status of the deceased woman’s daughter, it was reported that she is relatively well, with minor injuries. However, she remained under medical observation for 48 hours due to a hematoma on the liver resulting from a strong blow received in that area.
Details revealed by Benítez mention that the driver responsible for the accident is named Agustín López, 20 years old, and lives near Rosario with his girlfriend, Giovanna Romero, 19 years old. The young woman detailed: “Both had accumulated fines exceeding 500,000 pesos, whether for violating traffic signals, testing positive in breathalyzer tests, or various infractions.”
Regarding the reaction of the victims' family, Abril Benítez expressed: “They should impose a sentence of more than 25 years. Both the driver and his girlfriend must be imprisoned. The girlfriend is trying to present herself as a victim, but she is an accomplice in this murder. We will not sit idly by and will organize a mobilization in search of justice.”
In conclusion, Abril Benítez pointed out that the traumatic event could have been avoided and described how the family learned about the tragedy. The deceased teenager had a history with the accused on the same day of the accident, which allowed the family to find out about the departure of the mother and daughter when the father of the young woman contacted Diego, husband of the deceased woman.
